Back in Sydney

Home Again

29 July - 4 August 2000

On reaching Sydney, I realised that all too quickly my year - well almost a year - had come to a screeching halt. I would be leaving Australia in 1 week time, and like I had predicted back in November, the time had just flown by. Now it was time to say goodbye to a beautiful country full of, for the most part, beautiful and awfully hospitable people.

Well, with this in mind, I made very sure to book up our social diaries from our arrival back in Sydney until our departure. The first party we went to was one that Giles (remember Giles from Byron) was having at his place. Actually, I think it was his flatmate's birthday party, but we were invited along nonetheless.

The remaining nights in Sydney were spent at various social gatherings, and on my penultimate night, Wednesday 2 August, I had my final leaving drinks at Forresters Pub on Riley Street in Surrey Hills.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone I met along the way on my travels. I'm not going to name names but you know who you are, all of you have enormously enriched my life with your stories, anecdotes and hospitality.
