The Wine Region

A Whistle Stop Tour

1 May - 2 May 2000

I left Melbourne on a midnight bus and arrived in Adelaide 7 hours later. Luckily I had had the foresight to book a room in a hostel (Albert Hall Backpackers) before I left Melbourne. I was collected at the bus depot and taken back to the hostel where I dumped my bags, headed straight back into town and booked my ticket to Ayers Rock.

I then had a bit of an explore about Adelaide. Like Melbourne, Adelaide also has an old tram system. These trams are very reminisent of the trams in central and eastern Europe, and they really add to the general appeal and feel of the city. Aside from the trams, the city has other elements that really appealed to me. It is by no means the biggest city in Australia, infact it is one of the smaller ones, but it does have a very nice beach and is also inundated with green sites around the city centre.

Another great feature of the surrounding area is that it is Australia's premier wine growing region - which, sadly, I didn't get to see first hand. Oh well, as I mentioned earlier, this really was just a whistle stop tour.

I spent the next day walking around town and then caught the bus to Uluru (Ayers Rock) at 6 pm.

Ahh Europe, Well.. Photos It's a Jungle Out..
